Tallahassee is steep in religous tradition. Located only 1 mile east of the new Capital Building in Tallahassee is the site of of the Apalachee town of Anhaica. In the 16th century, this city is believe to have been the first place in North America to celebrate Christmas while occupied by Hernando de Soto and his expedition. Today, not only is Tallahassee filled with Christian churches, but places to worship for every religion can be found.
